This is my husbands favorite. "The Challenge" vintage painting of a bull fighter. It is huge !!! We have it over our fireplace, it almost reaches the ceiling. I love the colors ! All the greens and blues ! I like to have my home full of bright beautiful colors. This has a pretty engraved wooded frame. It is very light weight. This is a print and not an original painting. It is signed Lee Bukk. I did an Internet search for this artist and got nothing but a bunch of filth. I think there are more of these out there somewhere though. The back has a sticker on it that says TURNER MFG. CO. CHICAGO "The Challenge" fashion plate wall accessories.

    1. A cousin of mine has a large print in, what I believe is, it's original frame. Both in near exceptional condition. I will have to do some further research about it. Saw this blog and thought I'd let you know about his print. Thanks for your time, d.bell

  7. Hi I just acquired this painting and I too love it! Like Jay, it feels textured like real paint so I am not sure if prints were made like that in the past or if Lee Bukk made several paintings like this. Highly improbable right? Has anyone found out any information on this artist?

  8. Hi, i seem to have the same painting, but the colors are darker. Also, on the back there is a Turner mfg. co. sticker that specifies that it is Item no "1715" and the model is "L66 The Challenge". I would like to know if yours has this sticker on the back. Also, does anyone else have the darker version of it??

  10. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an actual price. It's a print, making it basically worthless, but is old and very pretty, giving it a value equivalent to what someone is ready to pay for it. Since it wasn't actually painted, an art dealer would classify it as worthless but, to the right person, i think you could get something for it.

  16. So apparently his name is Lee Reynolds Burr. Not Lee Bukk. And his art has two names Lee Reynolds or Lee Burr. This is what I found on ebay...

And this is a thread I found that talks a little about his work...

  20. I purchased a huge oil painting of two sailing ships "Spanish Gallions" in green colors with full moon. Signed Lee Bukk. It's very unusual. It was in a junk shop in Alabama. I paid $40 for it. I assumedon't it came out of an old motel.
